Aaron Parks - Little Big

American pianist Aaron Parks comes to TivoliVredenburg with his band Little Big. With that band (which consists besides Parks also of guitarist Greg Tuohey, bassist David Ginyard Jr. and drummer Jongkuk Kim) he brings a fresh vision on contemporary jazz. Parks incorporates in his compositions besides jazz in a surprising way also indierock and eastern modalitites. After his influential debut Invisible Cinema on Blue Note Records in 2008 Parks developed this band into a close-knit collective. On their third studio album Little Big III the band sounds rawer and more authentic than ever. Parks is known for his lyrical piano playing with rhythmic complexity and harmonic refinement. The music has a lively energy in which perfection is consciously broken to make room for real human expression.
