Indie roots rocker Admiral Freebee, better known as Tom Van Laere, returns to the Melkweg in 2026. After celebrating the twentieth anniversary of his self-titled debut album, Van Laere went on tour and ended with the question: Why aren’t there any playgrounds for adults? A place where you don’t have to think about anything and can play freely – pure fun! That sense of playfulness with his band is something they’re determined to hold on to. The result? Ten tracks set to be released next spring, accompanied by a brand new show at the Melkweg.

To tease what’s to come, Admiral Freebee released ‘Q&A With Myself’ – an uptempo, groovy rock track with danceable guitars, synths, and a few well-placed hey’s that echo imaginary air pumps. Effortless and carefree that’s what Admiral Freebee’s playground sounds like.
