Anne-Fay.
Anne-Fay is a singer, performer and maker who weaves music, dance and storytelling together. She studied at the Fontys Dance Academy and worked with choreographers such as Roy Julen and Monique Duurvoort. On stage she performed among others with ZO! Gospel Choir, as a backing vocalist for various acts and at festivals such as Lowlands, Oerol and Milkshake. That stage experience forms the basis of her solo work, in which the personal increasingly became central. With African and Chinese roots, but also white privilege, Anne-Fay has a white skin and a black, Surinamese mother, causing her to often be seen as white passing in society. Together with her brother and filmmaker Felix she researched their bicultural background and travelled along the diaspora of their family. This search forms the core of 'Reaspora', an interdisciplinary project in which music, theatre, dance and film come together. Now she celebrates the release of her new album '+1', created from motherhood, in Paradiso. An lp with both hefty beats and vulnerable ballads.
