On Thursday 30 April Patronaat is dedicated to raw Detroit hip-hop! With an exclusive performance by producer Apollo Brown and MC Journalist 103. To complete it Guilty Simpson is present as special guest. Apollo Brown is considered one of the most influential boom bap producers of the past ten years and worked with artists such as J Dilla, Masta Ace, Freddie Gibbs and Westside Gunn. His characteristic sound, soulful, layered and uncompromising, forms the perfect basis for the sharp, socially critical lyrics of Journalist 103, known from the highly praised album Gas Mask. Special guest Guilty Simpson completes the evening with his unmistakable presence and streetwise stories from Detroit. As a key figure within the Detroit hip-hop scene he worked closely with J Dilla and among other things released albums on Stones Throw Records. The joint classic Dice Game with Apollo Brown is regarded as modern “grown man gangsta rap” and guarantees an intense live experience. This evening promises to be a pure hip-hop show for lovers of authenticity, craftsmanship and raw energy.
