A double bill to die for. Scottish avant-black sextet ASHENSPIRE on the road with the German-Ukrainian MACHUKA.
Two hard-hitting bands with a message.
Labeling Scotland's ASHENSPIRE solely as black metal wouldn't do them justice. This swirling sonic whirlwind shimmers in all directions, from avant-black metal to black progressive and hard concrete rock, full of surprising twists and turns and a compelling delivery. Highlights include vocalist Alasdair Dunn and saxophonist Dean Garrity, who seem to lead us through a desolate landscape ravaged by capitalism. After impressive shows at SOulcrusher and Roadburn, many people know that Ashenspire is a band that mercilessly sweeps you along on their musical journey, leaving you worn out but satisfied.
Opening the evening is MACHUKHA, the band fronted by Ukrainian singer Natalya, who moves between post-black metal, dark hardcore, and punk. With their debut album, Мочарi [Mochari] on Consouling Sounds, the band immediately made an indelible impression. Machuka quickly made a name for themselves live, with highly acclaimed shows supporting bands like Chat Pile and Agriculture, and at festivals like Complexity Fest (2024) and A Colossal Weekend (2025), thanks in no small part to Natalya's intense screamo vocals and furious mix of blast beats and more subdued pieces.
This is the band to watch in the coming period!
