Automatic, a postpunk trio from Los Angeles draws inspiration from bands like Neu! and Suicide, choosing their name from a track by the girl rock band The Go-Go's. Automatic combines postpunk with strong synth work and minimalist drumbeats. This year the title track of their new album 'Is It Now?' was released, a song about finding joy in a collapsing world. With this, they continue to build on their retro-futuristic synthpop and poetic reflections. For the new album, they collaborated with producer Loren Humphrey (Cameron Winter, Nice As Fuck, Arctic Monkeys) to build on the sound of their previous albums 'Signal' and 'Excess', minimalist yet danceable tracks they describe as 'deviant pop'.
