Who doesn't immediately recognize the music from James Bond, Harry Potter, or Pirates of the Caribbean films ? Even beyond the film images, it's more than worth enjoying. Meanwhile, live film music in concert halls has become a beloved genre, thanks to leading names like Hans Zimmer and John Williams. The Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie offers a selection of music from true blockbusters.
John Williams
A concert featuring famous soundtracks simply can't be complete without John Williams. The American has helped define the tone of film music since time immemorial. Think of E.T. , Hook , Jaws , Schindler's List , and the first Harry Potter films. Not only the images, but also the iconic melodies instantly spring to mind.
Howard Shore ( Lord of the Rings ), John Barry (the first eleven James Bond films), and Hans Zimmer ( Pirates of the Caribbean ) are also grandmasters of the genre. Zimmer, in particular, has emerged as a peer of John Williams, with an impressive list of memorable film scores, from The Lion King to Dune and from Interstellar to Dunkirk .
