We know American singer-songwriter BJ Barham as the frontman and sole core member of the loose alt-country band American Aquarium, with which he creates roots rock in the style of Whiskeytown and Drive-By Truckers. BJ Barham is blessed with precisely the right sandpapery voice for this genre, as can be heard on his only solo album, Rockingham. That album is already nine years old, but American Aquarium released its melancholic tenth album, The Fear Of Standing Still, in 2024.
