Jazz, Neo classical

Bremer/McCoy

The Danish duo Bremer/McCoy was founded in 2012 by two former school friends, bassist Jonathan Bremer and pianist Morten McCoy. Once started as a reggae group, their sound has evolved into a mix of jazz, dub and neo-classical. With 400,000 listeners per month they have created their own restrained cosmos in a noisy era. It is therefore fitting that 'Kosmos' is the title of the duo's sixth album, released on Luaka Bop, the label of David Byrne. With this they want to convey a worldview rooted in a deep connectedness and a sense of freedom. This album includes songs that have been on the shelf for 15 years, alongside pieces that were created in a single improvisation.

The starting point for 'Kosmos' was to capture the emotions of their concerts on record. Thus they approached the first studio sessions as if they were giving a concert and so they began to improvise. Their improvisation style is unique: they do not improvise solos, but songs. They do not riff aimlessly, but delve into a story and discover it together.
