American country blues artist Charlie Parr (born 1967) may be relatively old, but his soul is much older. You can hear this immediately when he plays his first notes (usually on his beloved resonator guitar) and sings. A significant portion of American folk, blues, and country history lies hidden within his raw voice – Parr draws influences from pioneers like Bukka White, Mississippi John Hurt, and Charlie Patton. In 2024, Parr released his eighteenth album, Little Sun, on which he collaborated with a full band for the first time. The result is a relaxed, Basement Tapes-esque album!
