Math rock, Post rock

The Japanese quartet toe has been a force to be reckoned with for some 25 years as post- and math-rock experts. This is the kind of band that leaves other musicians speechless. Since their debut album, The Book About My Idle Plot on a Vague Anxiety, toe has built a global cult following.

With albums like For Long Tomorrow and Hear You , the band increasingly shifted towards more melody, jazz influences, and experimentation: from piano and electronics to guest vocals and even rap. In 2024, NOW I SEE THE LIGHT was released , on which Toe finds a perfect blend between the explosive atmosphere of their early work and the dreamy, cinematic side of recent years.

Live is on a whole other level: extremely tight, but never clinical. The band builds their songs layer by layer, slowly drawing you into a kind of trance, and then suddenly leaving you with goosebumps. No big show elements or fuss, just four musicians so in tune with each other that you lose track of time.
