The concert on 27 May 2026 at AFAS Live is part of his biggest tour to date and marks a return to the venue where he last performed in 2023 during the Sonder Tour. The Dubliner, known for his immersive live shows full of passion, will also visit 10 other countries, including Germany, France, Belgium, Sweden and the United Kingdom. He will also play songs from his yet-to-be-released third album. That he can effortlessly handle the big venues, he proved earlier with performances at the O2 Arena (London) and Madison Square Garden (New York).

Street musician

Dermot Joseph Kennedy, born in 1991, learned the trade of singer-songwriter on the street. As a street musician he combines hiphop with folk, pop and soul into his own style. He played frequently on the famous shopping street Grafton Street in Dublin, his then residence, and in Boston. In Dublin he met Glen Hansard of The Frames and The Swell Season. The two became friends and Hansard invited the young Kennedy to open his concerts as a support act. When he put the song An Evening I Will Not Forge t on Spotify in 2015 it took off. He soon toured the US, Australia and Europe for sold-out venues. He has, among other things, performed at major American festivals such as Coachella, South by Southwest and Lollapalooza. In the Netherlands he performed in the Alpha tent at Lowlands, the festival's largest stage.

He really broke through internationally in 2019 with Power Over Me, the first single from his debut album. His first album Without Fear was released in October 2019 and contains multiple hit singles: besides Power Over Me also Outnumbered and Giants. His first album became the fastest selling album of that year in Ireland. It reached gold status in New Zealand, Poland and Denmark and platinum in Canada, Switzerland and Great Britain. His second album Sonder was released in November 2022 and contains hit singles such as Better Days, Something to Someone, Kiss Me. In that year he also played at Pinkpop. With Better Days, Something to Someone and Kiss Me. He can count both Taylor Swift and Shawn Mendes among his fans and has meanwhile more than 4 billion streams to his name. Better Days, the favorite song of the Instagrammer Eva Hermans-Kroot who died of lung cancer in November 2024, ended up at number six in the Top2000 at the end of last year.
