On the Dutch coast, in a modest apartment with a sea view, a new chapter was written. Don Melody Club's second, entirely self-recorded and self-produced album saw the light of day.
"Klassiek Gedonder" is the second home studio album by DMC producer and songwriter Donald Madjid. An unpolished breakup record with an unexpected twist in its making. Recorded in his brother's beach apartment in Zandvoort, the album was born from the calm and chill of the West Coast, driven by a deep urge to create something on his own terms again. Following his debut album, "Pure Donzin" (2021), this time, working within the framework of only selective analog instrumentation was central. Where the Maestro Rhythm King once formed the backbone, it is now the legendary Roland TR-808 that drives the groove. Combined with a carefully selected arsenal of analog synths, a warm, raw sound has been created. The album feels like a stormy day at sea: it predicts doom, the constant uncertainty everyone experiences in love, doubt, and hope, and also touches on a few political nerves along the way. It is personal, at times painfully honest, and above all, imbued with the sentimentality that so typifies Donald.
