Born in Italy and based in Amsterdam, pianist and composer Emanuele Pellegrini explores with his trio the boundaries of contemporary jazz. With that combo he recorded the album Stories of Light and Dark. The record plays like a meditative journey. With bassist Alessandro Fongaro and drummer Sun-Mi Hong the trio explores a musical language with lots of space in which clarity and mystery, light and shadow engage in dialogue. The compositions unfold organically and unhurriedly, always carried by intention. Pellegrini combines piano and synthesizers with inventive harmonies from classical music. The result is a narrative that continuously plays with tension and calm.
