PUNK NIGHT IN THE CONTEXT OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
On International Women's Day, EKKO, in collaboration with Utrecht-based filmmaker and curator Bibi Bannink, will pay tribute to the power of flinta people in punk. The first edition took place last year, and since then, Girls to the Front has made great strides, with multiple tours throughout the Netherlands and a collaboration with the Wilde Weide festival. In addition to a musical program, there will be a zine release and a panel talk representing various feminist organizations. Expect an evening full of raw energy, inspiring art, and performances by BOMBSTRAP , Hondenfokker , Ontaard , and SNACKBAR . Celebrate with us, because: Girls to the Front!
BOMBSTRAP
is a relentless four-piece from Manchester and Rotterdam. Often referred to as Rotterdam terror punk, they prefer to dwell on the weirder side of hardcore. Their lyrical content is clothed in nihilism and murderous rage, with a relentless political charge. As their rage transforms into a visually dangerous and conceptually subversive show, they invite you to explode with them.
Hondenfokker
Hondenfokker makes music for people who'd rather sweat in a basement than sit on a patio. Sara, Enrica, and Tim throw punk, electronics, and everything that can break into a single blender, and the result is as messy as it is addictive. Their first EP, NIMBY, co-produced with Leo Mokkala, is a love letter to chaos, beats, and excessive volume. Danceable, hard, and sometimes just plain weird, exactly as it should be.
Ontaard
is a post-metal band from Utrecht, hailing from the vibrant art scene in Utrecht, with its heart and soul in dB's studios. The band started as four friends who wanted to have fun first, and then make music. In a rich scene, inspiration abounds. You'll hear influences from sludge, black metal, and shoegaze. Expect black metal riffs, spoken word, and noise elements. The result is a full, tear-jerking sound. Melodic, pounding, and above all, alienating.
Amsterdam punk quartet SNACKBAR
combines raw garage punk with real-life Dutch lyrics, creating short, loud songs. They call it "snack-swallow-away punk," fast food for the ears with a hint of hardcore here and there. Their lyrics are humorous, hard-hitting, and honest, inspired primarily by programs from Villa Achterwerk and the fluorescent-lit neighborhood snack bar.
