American country singer with authentic honky-tonk sound

'I'm a honky tonkin' baby, with a hardliner blues,' sings American country singer Hannah Juanita as the opening line of her new, second album, Tennessee Songbird (2025). A beautiful description of her lifestyle, for Juanita's music, thanks to its authentic, old-school sound, takes you to sultry honky-tonks – the fact that her voice is an unpolished version of Tammy Wynette's certainly helps. The traditional instrumentation (with plenty of pedal steel and fiddle) makes the uptempo songs a delight, but Juanita might sound even better on the ballads!
