HTRK (pronounced 'Hate Rock') has undergone many changes since its formation in 2003. In 2009, the group lost Rowland S. Howard, their mentor and producer, and in 2010, the passing of Sean Stewart, their bassist and founder, followed. The remaining duo, consisting of vocalist Jonnine Standish and guitarist Nigel Yang, gradually changed form, trading lethargic noise for softer sounds with forays into gothic country, while retaining its distinctive poetic gravitas.

They make music that reflects not only the weight and beauty of the world, but also its surreal humor and inexplicable serendipity, and map out desire, intimacy, and spirituality like few can.

HTRK's albums have been released by labels such as Fire, Blast First Petite, Boomkat Editions, and Ghostly International. For their most recent full-length album, Rhinestones, they founded their own label, N&J Blueberries.

Last November, the successful remix album 'String of Hearts' was released, featuring remixes by Sharon Van Etten, Kali Malone and Stephen O'Malley, Liars, Coby Sey, Double Virgo, Loraine James, and Perila, among others. New work from the duo is coming this summer, more info on that soon.
