João Selva, the son of a pastor from Ipanema, is a member of Brazil's Nu Tropicáli. His music is inspired by the sounds of the 1970s and combines samba soul and funky grooves with the new sounds of Brazil.

João Selva's solo career took off in 2016 after meeting prolific French producer Bruno Patchworks (Voilaaa, David Walters, the Bongo Hop). From the hills of Croix Rousse in Lyon, they began their collaboration with the release of their first album, "Natureza," in 2017. His second album, "Navegar," was released in 2021, receiving worldwide critical acclaim and widespread DJ play. This was followed by "Passarinho" in 2023 and his fourth release, "Onda," in 2025.

João Selva is an artist at ease both on stage and in the studio. He attaches great importance to transmission and develops numerous cultural projects. This summer, he will be in Amsterdam for an exclusive performance with his four-piece band for an evening of Ao Vivo.
