The band was founded around 2012 by college friends in Thailand who shared a fondness for Western psychedelic music from the 60s and 70s. When they started writing songs, they discovered a similarity between their sound and the Thai funk, Luk Tung, and Molam music styles of that era. By bringing these sounds together, Bierbood manages to create a contemporary Thai pop sound.
In 2023, Go (Kikagaku Moyo) visited the band in Thailand and recorded their second studio album, Monolam. While the album retains the band's original charm, it shows a shift towards a different, groovier sound. A sound that pays tribute to their passion for the past and their desire for a new cultural renaissance.
