Mammal Hands. Fusion of jazz, electronics and folk.
The British trio Mammal Hands creates hypnotic music. They make a very distinctive blend of jazz, modern classical music, electronica and folk. The influences of Pharoah Sanders, Terry Riley and Steve Reich resonate in their dynamic, almost transcendent compositions. Saxophonist Jordan Smart, pianist Nick Smart and drummer Rob Turner have formed this collective since 2012. All members of Mammal Hands contribute equally to the composition process. Their bassless sound originated from long improvised sessions in their hometown Norwich. With five albums on Gondwana Records the band established their name. With their captivating live performances at, among others, Montreux Jazz Festival, they also attracted attention as a live band among many European jazz lovers.
