Amsterdam is one of the few cities Mitski visits during the world tour that follows the release of her eighth album Nothing's About to Happen to Me. Besides Amsterdam she also performs in, among others, Singapore, Sydney, Los Angeles and Istanbul. The last time the 35-year-old singer-songwriter performed in the Netherlands was in 2024. At that time she performed twice in a sold-out Koninklijk Theater Carré in Amsterdam, about which, among others, NRC and OOR spoke enthusiastically. Her distinctive way of performing, in which she seeks musical variation and, by means of theatrical elements such as light and choreography, puts on a performance of her own, ensures a unique show every time. In Carré she performed with a seven-piece band. That band is also audible on Nothing's About to Happen to Me, her new album that is released on 27 February.

Mitski

Mitski is among the biggest stars of contemporary indie pop and has astronomical listening figures. In her music she combines musical styles such as folk, pop, rock and electronics with personal lyrics about themes such as anxiety, loneliness, vulnerability and her own inability. Her major breakthrough came in 2018 with her fifth album Be the Cowboy, which was chosen as album of the year worldwide by music media. Her songs Nobody and Washing Machine Heart grew into TikTok hits. With more than one and a half billion views on TikTok and more than two and a half million videos with her music as soundtrack, she is one of the most popular artists on the social media platform. That her emotional lyrics resonate with her loyal fans is shown by the fact that they have their own hashtag on TikTok: #Mitskiistherapy has more than fifty million views.
