De Helling and dB's present MOMENTUM this Sunday afternoon, April 19th, the party for alternative darkwave, post-punk and rock.
With a line-up of no fewer than four appealing bands and resident Momentum DJs -XXX-, SPUD & RVR, this is an event to mark in bold black on your calendar.
The first band of the day is the Breda duo NOIRE ANTIDOTE, which plays a mix of post-industrial and witch house. The duo has played all over the world and is a growing name in the dark underground scene.
Next, we're cranking up the volume for the English post-rock outfit Telepathy, who have been working hard for over fifteen years with releases on renowned labels like Inaudible and Pelagic, and are particularly known for their blistering live performances at festivals like Into The Void, Roadburn, Black Earh, and Soulcrusher. Their latest release, "Transmissions," on Pelagic Records, is a beautiful example of dark and atmospheric post-metal that fans of bands like Russian Circles and Pelican will certainly enjoy.
The third band of the evening is the German trio Gewalt, who made an indelible impression at dB's last year with their mix of industrial, post-punk, and new wave. Live, GEWALT is known for an intense, physical experience, with the motto: "We come to make you dance and to blow your mind." The band has now played around 200 shows throughout Europe and recently in the United States. They have shared the stage with acts like Jack White, Friends of Gas, Plattenbau, PDOA, White Hills, and the Martin Bisi Collective, and have appeared at festivals such as ESNS 2023, SXSW 2023, Spacefest, Immergut, Derby, Haldern Pop, and Fusion.
Closing out the evening is the Texas duo NITE (not to be confused with the American metal band NITE), consisting of twin brothers Mules and Kyle Mendes and drummer Phil Helms. Their music is a danceable blend of darkwave, synthpop, and post-punk. After US tours with Dead on a Sunday, The Funeral Portrait, and The New Division, NITE is now embarking on their first European headline tour. Their star is rising, and synthpop bangers like "Good Boy" and "All Your Pain" exude an infectious 80s feel that evoke the era of Depeche Mode, New Order, and The Cure, while also seamlessly connecting with contemporary counterparts like Boy Harsher and Drab Majesty.
