Nathan Bell Band
Roots of Heaven alumni Nathan Bell is known as a masterful singer-songwriter who reaches you within minutes with his combination of Americana and blues. With his alter ego The Right Reverend Crow he takes a rougher route on his new album Demokrazy Blues: gritty Mississippi blues with influences of Fat Possum and the spirit of RL Burnside. Together with Frank Swart (Patty Griffin, Norah Jones, Morphine) on bass and Alvino Bennett (among others Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Stevie Wonder, Sean “Mack” MacDonald) on drums, Bell brings his songs live to Patronaat on Wednesday 22 April.
Bell is the son of poet Marvin Bell, and you can hear that: his lyrics cut, move and spare no one. He sings about what occupies him, from social injustice to personal reflection, with the same honesty with which he has been on stage for years.
