The iconic American band Pixies is coming to the Maassilo in Rotterdam on Friday, July 17, 2026, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band's founding. A rare opportunity to see one of the most influential bands in the alternative music scene live. Pixies needs no introduction. That a band has remained relevant and innovative for four decades is impressive in itself. With their unmistakable mix of searing guitars, surreal lyrics, and explosive dynamics, they have influenced multiple generations of musicians; from Nirvana and Radiohead to The Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer. Since their debut with the mini-album Come On Pilgrim (1987) and the groundbreaking Surfer Rosa (1988) Pixies set the tone for what alternative rock would become. The legendary Doolittle (1989) catapulted the band to a larger audience with classics such as Debaser, Monkey Gone To Heaven, Here Comes Your Man and the iconic Where Is My Mind. After their breakup in 1993, the band's popularity only grew further. Since their reunion in 2004, they have been drawing full houses worldwide and have released four new albums, the most recent being The Night the Zombies Came from 2024. With bassist Emma Richardson (ex-Band of Skulls) as the newest addition, the band continues to evolve without losing their original, uncompromising sound. This concert is organized by Rotown and Maassilo and only has standing places.
