The band sounds like a fast musical journey through Colombian tropical folklore, a mischievous and modern interpretation of the psychedelic sounds of cumbia from the 1970s and other tropical rhythms. Expect musical fireworks that not only set your hips and feet in motion, but also put your brain in a blissful mood. Romperayo is part of the new Colombian music scene that fascinatingly reinterprets its roots by combining traditional rhythms with modern electronics. It balances on the edge of total strangeness, but at the same time is very danceable and full of musical humor.

In September 2024 they released their latest album Insurgentes Carismáticos, again a dive into a psychedelic tropical universe, with a strong influence of the sound of Latin American and African vinyl from the 1960s and 70s. Last October the new record 'Palonegro Y Colorado' was released, which was included by Bandcamp in 'The Best Latin Music on Bandcamp, October 2025'.
