Sina Bathaie
A contemporary take on traditional Iranian music
Sina Bathaie brings a combination of traditional Iranian music and modern electronic elements to Patronaat. He grew up in Iran, where he learned to play the santur at a young age, and developed further in Canada as a composer and producer. With releases such as Ray of Hope and various film scores, Bathaie built a name within the world and ambient scene. His music stands out by the way classical instruments such as santur and baglama work together with contemporary production, creating a recognizable yet renewing sound.
Live, Sina Bathaie is known for his energetic, rhythmic approach. The warm sound of the santur carries the melodies, while electronic layers give the songs direction and build tension. The result is not a floating soundscape, but music that keeps moving and constantly adds new accents. A performance in which tradition and modern music meet and are pulled directly into the hall.
