Son Little, known for his mix of soul, r&b and psychedelic influences, builds on a rich musical history. His earlier work, including the critically acclaimed 'Son Little' (2015) and collaborations with, among others, Mavis Staples and The Roots, often explored the darker sides of existential doubt, trauma and personal struggle. With his latest album 'Like Neptune' he shifts the focus to joy, self-acceptance and healing. During the lockdown he returned to old journals and experimented with DIY productions on his iPad, supplemented with live instrumentation and psychedelic inspiration from the 1970s. Thanks to therapy and methods such as Internal Family Systems he found new ways to understand and heal his inner voices, resulting in an album in which each song highlights a facet of his inner world. A timeless work full of emotional depth, creative freedom and an ode to the rich heritage of Black American music.
