At An Intergalactic Night, you can expect a series of short performances in all shapes and sizes. This new edition is part of the Mishakosmos Festival, running from May 24 to June 7 at various locations in Amsterdam. The festival celebrates the bizarre and wondrous musical world of composer, pianist, and philosopher Misha Mengelberg (1935–2017). His oeuvre continues to inspire musicians around the world.
Ernst Glerum plays Misha.
As an introduction and between performances, Ernst Glerum plays a number of songs by Misha that he has never performed on piano before. Ernst Glerum is best known as a double bassist and member of the legendary ICP Orchestra, founded by Han Bennink and Misha Mengelberg.
Terrie Ex & Emma Fischer
Terriee Ex (Hessels) is one of the founders of the legendary band The Ex (since 1979), which still guarantees challenging performances and releases. As a solo improviser, he constantly seeks unconventional and unusual guitar sounds. With his partner Emma Fischer, he founded the label Terp, on which he released his fascinating solo Flaps in 2025. Tonight he plays fragments of this, while Emma paints live.
Meis Vranken 'Flat News'
The home is perhaps the most important space in a person's life. Typically, it stands in stark contrast to the stage, where we prefer to forget the everyday hustle and bustle for a moment. It is high time to give the image of the home a fresh coat of polish, Meis Vranken believes. That is why she presents Flat News , a brand-new music performance about her own home. Meis Vranken is a multidisciplinary artist and is also active as the singer of the art-punk band Yodel Queen.
Beatrice Sberna & Friends
With a background in jazz, Beatrice Sberna moves freely between genres, from Italian music to noise. Her music reflects a broad emotional spectrum – awkward, tender, sharp, ironic, and unsettling. She is now performing new music with Tanine Kian (piano), Aniol Torrents (bass), and Ludvig Sondergaard (drums). She presents both written and improvised material with a strong sense of narrative and theater.
