Electronic, Experimental

Textures returns with a new edition full of Amsterdam artists who immerse you in layered ambient soundscapes and live instrumentation.

‍Jouko isn't a fan of compartmentalized thinking and loves transitions that seem to fail. He primarily expresses himself through online radio: after a long stint as a regular artist at Red Light Radio, he joined Mutant Radio (Tbilisi, GE) in 2020, while also hosting a monthly show in his hometown of Amsterdam at Echobox Radio. Besides his radio work, you can also occasionally find him behind the counter at Red Light Records. Tonight, he's delving deep into the ambient/experimental/field-recording section of the record collection, weaving fragments together, searching for the right balance between tenderness and chaos.

Amsterdam trio Pittori Locali draws inspiration from Italian minimalism, jazz noir, and trip hop. They deliver a powerful live show filled with cinematic echoes. Till Hormann's alto saxophone sounds are combined with explorations of early digital synthesizers and electric bass by Paesaggi Records founder Zeno Poggioni, then further developed by David Wilkie with electronic drums and live dubs. Pittori Locali's debut tape, released on Paesaggi Records, features collaborations with percussionist Niklas Wandt and flutist Cengiz Arslanpay.

Loma Doom, a true radio veteran and beacon of twisted and enchanting sounds. Whether you experience her musical activities or those related to her contemporary art practice, curiosity is a key aspect that embodies Femke Dekker (real name). As Loma Doom, her signature style revolves around electronic experimental work, both for mind and movement, seeking out the outliers, a style that eschews linearity, moving toward a space where intuition and understanding converge. Using radio and archives as her primary media, she currently focuses on different notions of listening and how listening is actually a call to action. She holds radio residencies at Stranded FM (program: Daydream Nation), Radio Tempo Não Pára (Helter Skelter), and Echobox (Left of the Dial). Along with Berlin-based artists Marylou and Lucy Park, she presents the quarterly Juju Night Shift at Arkaoda, Berlin.
