The Bats is an influential indie rock band from Christchurch, New Zealand. Formed in 1982, they quickly became known as a prominent representative of the Dunedin sound, a New Zealand musical movement that helped establish indie rock as a genre in the early 1980s. The band has been playing with the same four members for forty years, touring in North America, Europe, Australia, and their home base New Zealand. They have released eleven studio albums, with their most recent album 'Corner Coming Up' released last October, embracing familiar jangle pop and indie rock, proving their relevance after all these years.
