The Mystery Lights began when friends Mike Brandon and Luis Alfonso Solano, united by their love of psych garage rock, punk, and skateboarding, decided to create their own brand of unconventional rock and roll. In 2012, they relocated to New York, where they completed their lineup with three like-minded individuals. With a live show known for its visceral energy and relentless attack, with little to no downtime between songs, they played countless NYC venues and DIY venues, quickly building a fervent local following. Their popularity caught the attention of Daptone Records, who signed them to their rock label, Wick Records, in 2015. Since then, The Mystery Lights has released a string of albums. They recently released a new 45 on King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's label, PDOOM: "Kids of Today" and "Wish You Unwell." The A-side opens with a fierce proto-metal attack dosed with heavy psychedelia, while the B-side delivers a more shadowy, soulful ballad about heartbreak and black magic.
