V11 x BIRD presents: Tom Ford
On 25 February Tom Ford lands in V11; an evening full of raw guitars, post-punk energy and jazz roots. BIRD x V11 bring an artist who has been shining under the radar for years, but who now, with his debut album, is ready for a new creative phase.
Tom Ford, singer, guitarist, producer and regular player in the UK jazz scene, drops in 2025 his very first full-length album goodbye, forever. For Tom this record feels like a creative rebirth: away from old ideas, towards something new, freer and more uninhibited. The album breathes variety: hints of The Police and The Smiths, fragments of Holdsworth, a touch of Milton Nascimento, but always with improvisation at its core.
On the record you hear big names like Chris ‘Daddy’ Dave, Frederico Heliodoro, Anatole Muster, Otis Sandsjö and Logan Kane, but live Tom chooses the opposite: a raw, stripped-down trio setting, often supplemented by the American vocalist Chase Alex. Less polish, more energy. More post-punk and new wave, but via a guitarist deeply rooted in jazz.
Ford has played over the past ten years at places like Ronnie Scott’s and Jazz Café, toured with Reuben James, Jas Kayser and Jay Phelps, and worked worldwide with Chris Dave’s Drumhedz, Keyon Harrold and many more. But V11 is precisely the setting where his new music lands hardest: rough, intimate and close.
