The Veulpoepers are celebrating their fiftieth anniversary and will celebrate in 2026 with a new lineup under the name Veulpoepers 3.0 . The band formed in 1976 as RK Veulpoepers BV and became known for their idiosyncratic mix of activist Dutch folk, humor, and socially critical lyrics. They performed at demonstrations, village squares, and festivals, singing against apartheid, nuclear energy, and the housing shortage. In 1982, they said their farewell with a major concert in Hilvarenbeek, which later became legendary. However, their message remained relevant, and founder Zjef Naaijkens continued to advocate for social justice as a writer and musician.

In 2026, exactly fifty years after their founding, their music still sounds sharp and relevant. The Veulpoepers continue to have fun together, dance, and believe in a better world, against the grain and for the sake of it. Their classics like " Den Egelantier" and "Twee Emmertjes Water Halen" (Two Buckets of Water) are performed alongside new work about privacy, exploitation, and climate change. In 2026, they will release a new live album, plan a world record attempt for dancing through the gate, and tour the country with performances full of energy, nostalgia, and infectious joy.
