Vlad Holiday; Indie Rock Pop; 24 February; Location: ZAAL TUINKAMER ETAGE; Doors: 19:30; Show: 20:00; SOLD OUT; Vlad Holiday is a Romania-born American singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, best known as founder and frontman of the New York indie rock band Born Cages. Besides his work as an artist he built a strong reputation as a producer, contributing to albums by among others Donald Cumming and Public Access TV. With his long-awaited solo debut My Favorite Drug the now Nashville-based Holiday steps clearly into the foreground. His music bears the traces of a turbulent journey: leaving his home country, the raw energy of New York and the narrative openness of Nashville. As a fan of vintage equipment Holiday creates a rich and layered sound, partly shaped by collaborations with artists such as Kacey Musgraves and Matt Shultz of Cage The Elephant. My Favorite Drug is an intense and warm album that, despite themes of loss and longing, exudes a surprisingly optimistic power.
