Indie rock

Wednesday is a boisterous indie rock band from Asheville, North Carolina, comprised of Karly Hartzman, MJ Lenderman, Xandy Chelmis, Alan Miller, and Ethan Baechtold. The five-piece crafts music that teeters between '90s alternative rock, shoegaze, and Americana, with the occasional lap steel guitar adding that signature country snarl. Their new album, "Bleeds," will be released this fall, the follow-up to 2023's critically acclaimed "Rat Saw God." The first single, "Wound Up Here (By Holdin On)," is inspired by a drowning incident in West Virginia and features a line from a poetry book by a friend of Hartzman's. It's an example of how literature, memory, and music seamlessly intertwine for Wednesday.
