Alewya is an Ethiopian-Egyptian artist, singer, and producer, born in Saudi Arabia and raised in Shepherd's Bush, West London. Her music is a mix of everything she picked up along the way: her father's devoted Qur'an recitations, the Ethiopian sounds of Teddy Afro and Mulatu Astatke played by her mother, her older brother's alternative rock records, and her own fascination with garage, grime, R&B, and hip hop.
Following her debut album 'Panther in Mode' (2021), performances at COLORS, Boiler Room Berlin, and Glastonbury, and a tour with Little Simz, Alewya has new music to share. On 'ZERO' (2026), which she largely produced herself, she explores what it means to be human, with all the contradictions, adventures, and encounters of worlds that come with it. During this show at Bitterzoet, her musical journey comes fully into its own, in an evening where you feel those different worlds merging.
