Allah-Las
The Californian band Allah-Las creates a sun-drenched mix of psychedelic rock, garage rock and surf music, drenched in a fat 1960s sauce. In 2012 the band had a flying start with their self-titled debut album; they have since built up a substantial catalogue: in 2023 their fifth record, titled Zuma 85, was released, on which the gentlemen enriched their jangly sound with art rock and electronics. Versatility remains their great quality: the new single Countryman ’82 (2025) is a muddy, heavy dub-reggae exercise that seems to come straight from an old studio in Kingston, Jamaica.
