In October, Brainwash festival returns with a two-day festival, for the first time at Tolhuistuin. Together with philosophers, writers, scientists, and artists, we are once again taking the plunge. We will hold your beliefs up to the light, throw assumptions overboard, and stomp confidently towards the future.
During Brainwash Festival 2026, we explore the annual theme 'the shape of us' from various perspectives in performances, talks, lectures, films, and encounters that make the new conceivable.

A world that long seemed self-evident is changing before our eyes. Political systems are tottering, technology is penetrating ever deeper into our lives, and our autonomy is proving to be less self-evident than thought. With this, not only the world around us is changing, but also the way we live together.
Can we still think in terms of " we" ? In shared values, a shared story? Or have we forgotten how to do that?
However much we want to believe we can manage on our own, we need each other. Perhaps more than ever, with all those forces driving us apart. It is precisely in the fault lines that new perspectives emerge. Visions of the future that set us in motion.
