Christmas a GoGo
It's the most wonderful time of the year again, so it's also time for the largest Christmas music weblog in the Netherlands to give its annual Christmas party. Just like on the weblog, this time the genres and styles will, like candlelight on Christmas baubles, bounce in all directions. See the bottom of this page for the full line-up.

Blackbird
Merel Koman is a Christmas music fanatic. The singer-songwriter has previously given us self-penned new Christmas hits like the singalong Christmas Getaway. And from her upcoming EP 'Mama Made Christmas' it will become apparent that she also effortlessly draws Christmas covers to herself. On that EP she is supported from behind by the Metropolo Orkest. Blackbird is a radio darling, and clubs also fill up for her often enthusiastic, and often touching handcrafted songs. In Paradiso she will doubtless know how to hit the right spots of the Christmas heart.
The Lasses
This duo met in an Irish pub in Amsterdam, where they discovered their shared love for multi-voiced beautiful songs. That led to four albums, countless performances and now, hallelujah, a real Christmas album. They receive help from none other than Leoni Jansen, for years guardian of the beautifully sung song. On A Celtic Winter there are original compositions, English carols and contemporary classics by among others Joni Mitchell and Joan Osborne. That will guaranteedly turn out wondrously beautiful later.
The Mieters
They are the checkered gentlemen of the Zaan region, who prefer to play beat music loudly, making the windows tremble in their frames. Clad in checkered sweaters, because they are also stylish. The Mieters have already released individual Christmas singles, and now there is a real Christmas EP that is being released on gloriously scented vinyl. With also a genuine Groningen punk banger! Bring earplugs then, this will be mieters!
Talking Trees
Talking Trees is the project of performance artist and synthesizer specialist Bert Barten. He literally extracts his music from trees. He lets the pulses from trees be converted into music by synthesizers. With Talking Trees he also commits himself to planting trees against climate change. Tonight he will extract his music from Christmas trees and plays together with ambient specialist Pieter Nooten, once in the group Clan Of Xymox.
The Heck
Say The Heck, and you hear YEAH! MOVE! SHIT! Not coincidentally the (reduced to the essence) titles of singles from this trio from Klazinaveen. Connoisseurs still recognize The Keefmen in the members, also such a band that had to rely on full commitment and volume, and of course their ultra-short punky songs. But HO! STOP! WAIT! This time The Heck does not play at full power, but acoustically! They keep it small. But does it become calm then? And what then happens to their Christmassy hits like Bad Christmas and their special version of The Most Wonderful Time of the Year? There's only one way to find out, of course. Come watch, come Heck!
