Collectief Wezen creates site-specific performances in spaces that are no longer whatever they used to be. The makers have their roots in improvisation, composition, and interdisciplinary research, and studied at various conservatories and art schools in the Netherlands. The group works from imagination and curiosity, and in an interplay between human, instrument, and space, listening to what already exists in a place and what can still emerge.
Mijn zus, te paard (‘My Sister, on Horseback’) is a musical and textual structure within which a dreamlike, poetic reality comes to life. In this new performance, Collectief Wezen explores the themes of construction and deconstruction, taking words, musical fragments, and the space as building materials. Mijn zus, te paard takes us past earthenware birds, light brown sand, and the underside of all things, breaking them down and building new things with them.
