Nostalgic musical revue with music by Jos Brink, Frank Sanders, and Henk Bokkinga.
'This is the century in which everything can, may, must, and is possible! ' Jos Brink and Frank Sanders sang it back in 1979, in their very first musical, Maskerade. Seven musicals later, they proved to be right: they found great success in a country that was actually 'too down-to-earth' for it.
Their repertoire fell forgotten. Until now. After nearly 30 years, the work of Jos Brink, Frank Sanders, and Henk Bokkinga can once again be admired in the theater.
In the musical revue 'The Century in Which Anything Is Possible', four young performers pay homage to their musicals. They bring the most beautiful songs back to life with song and dance, and take the audience behind the scenes using archival footage, diaries, and costumes.
For the older generation, an evening full of nostalgia and recognition, and for younger generations, an evening full of discovery.
Frank Sanders, involved as artistic advisor, says: “With perseverance, meticulousness, and artistic commitment, the team at Productiehuis De Haard has created a remarkable document. A beautiful sketch of years of intensive work conceiving, creating, performing, and producing original Dutch musicals.”
Production House De Haard is a development hub for young, recently graduated theatre makers and (musical) actors. De Haard creates small-scale, professional productions in which collaboration between performers and creators is central, and gives its performers and creators space to develop and become visible within the cultural field.
