Dream pop for broken hearts, neon-lit dancefloors and cinematic synths: on Saturday 21 November Desire and Johnny Jewel come to Rotown. The Canadian Desire, formed in Montréal and now active from Los Angeles, operates at the intersection of synthpop, fashion and cinema. Frontwoman Megan Louise switches effortlessly between French and English vocals, carried by the italo disco, synthwave and noir-pop of producer Johnny Jewel. Worldwide recognition followed with the iconic track Under Your Spell, known from the cult film Drive (2011). Prior to the show Johnny Jewel plays a solo set. The American is known from among others Chromatics, Glass Candy, his record label Italians Do It Better, his work for Twin Peaks and is regarded as one of the most influential figures within modern synthpop.
