Butterfly_Parable is a project by artist Stef Veldhuis in which a lullaby is composed through a call and response with a biocomputer made of human brain cells.
Phrases from a pre-composed lullaby — written by Brechtje van Dijk and Allison Wright — are sent to the cells, whose unpredictable reactions are translated back into sound and returned as the next phrase, building the composition exchange by exchange.
During the preview event in our basement, Stef Veldhuis, Brechtje van Dijk, Allison Wright and technician Arran Lyon will present the first iteration of the sonic work and enter into conversation with curator Marijn Bril, in preparation for the exhibition at Impakt in January 2027.
