Hamraaz is the duo of French flutist and duduk player Lucie Lelaurain and Iranian tanbour and tar player Khorshid Dadbeh. They found each other through their shared love for Iranian and Armenian modal or maqam music. Through their own compositions and collaborations with other composers, they aim to breathe new life into these traditions and explore the further possibilities of the sounds of their unique instruments.
In this concert, they present pieces resulting from our annual open call in the Nieuwe Noten project, which we are organizing this year in collaboration with November Music, Oranjewoud Festival, and Wonderfeel. The pieces selected from this call will premiere at Gaudeamus Festival and will subsequently be performed in concerts at the three other festivals.
