ADE 2026 marks a major milestone in the history of electronic music; as ADE celebrates its 30th anniversary, Jean-Michel Jarre reflects on the 50th anniversary of his first album Oxygène. This electronic masterpiece is recognized as a groundbreaking artistic experiment that has stood the test of time and influenced generations of artists who over the past three decades have found their home at ADE. As part of the ADE Opening Concerts, Jean-Michel Jarre returns to the Netherlands for an exclusive performance at AFAS Live, presented by MOJO and Insomniac. This unique show translates Jarre’s oeuvre from large-scale spectacles to a modern live experience in Amsterdam. Electronic music has, like ADE, history, heritage and future. With the live show in Amsterdam we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Amsterdam Dance Event, but also the 50th anniversary of Oxygène. I want to keep the excitement and go from one track to another, each time with a new atmosphere, new stage design, new gigantic projections and architectures of light and video, to share moments that will remain in your heart and mind for the rest of your life - that is the reason that I am so happy to be part of this celebration in 2026. Besides the live concert, Jarre’s arrival at ADE 2026 forms a bridge between the origins and the future of electronic music, with an exclusive keynote interview at ADE Pro, and more surprises to be revealed later. Jean-Michel Jarre has always been a futurist within his field. During his impressive career the composer, performer, producer and cultural ambassador has constantly pushed new boundaries with his music and his mastery of creative innovation. From his early pioneering role in electronic music and his use of multichannel audio technology and production, to his recent explorations of VR and the metaverse, technology is central to everything he does. He is quoted as saying that today is the most exciting time to create, make and share music. Jarre is a UNESCO ambassador for education, science and culture, an advocate for the planet and the environment, and a laureate of the Stephen Hawking Medal for Scientific Communication. Jarre’s current catalogue, which now comprises 22 studio albums, has to date sold more than 85 million copies worldwide and has earned him numerous awards and nominations. During his career Jarre used some of the most iconic monuments and UNESCO World Heritage sites in the world as canvases for his creative, cultural and ecological message. He also set new Guinness World Records for live audiences at concerts at various emblematic locations. He was the first western musician to be invited to perform in China and he created and played concerts at the Pyramids in Egypt, the Sahara, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, the Eiffel Tower, the Dead Sea, Al-'Ula and more. He consistently sold out arena and stadium tours on multiple continents and performed at major festivals, including Coachella. In 2021 he rang in the new year with Welcome To The Other Side, a groundbreaking livestream broadcast worldwide from a virtual Notre-Dame in Paris. Trade magazine US Pollstar reports that the livestream drew record-breaking audiences of more than 75 million viewers worldwide via various platforms, TV channels and VR. On 25 December 2023 Jarre presented Versailles 400: a unique hybrid artistic creation, specially conceived to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Château de Versailles, performed live from the Hall of Mirrors and in virtual reality. In May 2024 he performed the unique one-off concert Bridge From The Future in Bratislava, Slovakia, with special guest Sir Brian May, for more than 100,000 people, to open the seventh edition of the Starmus Festival. In September 2024 he was a headliner during the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In the summer of 2025 he performed a series of live shows across Europe at iconic locations, including Piazza San Marco in Venice and Anfiteatro Degli Scavi in Pompeii. 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of his iconic album Oxygène.
