Martin Kohlstedt
The German pianist/composer/producer Martin Kohlstedt creates a fascinating mix of ambient, minimal and modern classical. He first gained recognition with the album duo Tag (2012) and Nacht (2014) – a rework version of the latter was also released, because Kohlstedt likes to explore the electronic domain. He is also not afraid to improvise (he prefers to call it 'modular composing'): he develops his musical pieces simply by performing them on stage. Kohlstedt's most recent album Feld (2023) is his most successful to date and only reveals its secrets after many plays.
