The Japanese trio MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS blends the power of post-hardcore with the layered guitars of shoegaze and clear melodies. Bassist and vocalist Natsuko Miyamoto is central to the sound: her light vocals contrast with the rich guitars and driving rhythms.
On 14 August, “Iwaou”, their sixth album and first new release in four years, will be released. The album features six tracks, including ‘Simmer Summer’, ‘Let It Go’, ‘Hers’ and the title track. On this album, the trio once again plays with the contrast between heavy guitar parts and melodies that cut right through them. Amidst the bursts of guitar, Miyamoto’s clear vocals are given plenty of space.
