Nona van der Wansem, or simply Nona, brings a distinctive mix of soul, blues, and pop to the Tolhuishuit. The singer from Uden grew up surrounded by records in her parents' shop, where she was captivated by the voices of Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding at an early age. That classical upbringing still forms the foundation of her own sound: warm, heartfelt, and full of character.

After a period of self-reflection and a creative restart in Denmark, she returned with work that is more honest and raw than ever. While her 2019 debut album already took her to major festivals like Pinkpop and North Sea Jazz, she opts for an organic approach in her new chapter. The music makes ample room for live instruments and her powerful voice, with which she tells personal stories of self-acceptance, loss, and resilience. The influences of artists like Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters remain audible, but Nona translates them into a modern and timeless sound that comes into its own best live.
