Pongo is an Angolan singer, songwriter, and performer, regarded as one of the most distinctive voices of the new generation in global contemporary music. She was born in Luanda and has lived in Lisbon since she was eight; her work reflects a strong connection to identity, culture, and resilience.

At sixteen, she gained international fame with “Kalemba (Wegue Wegue)”. Today, she is a leading Afro-fusion artist, known for her energetic performances throughout Europe and her striking performance at COLORSxSTUDIOS.

As the winner of the Music Moves Europe Talent Award (2020) and nominated for the Kora Awards 2024, she combines kuduro, afrobeats, and electronic music into a distinctive contemporary sound. With Sakidila, Pongo Baddie, and “Kuzola” (heard in FIFA 23), she continues to grow worldwide.

She previously performed at Paradiso last October during Amsterdam Dance Event and returns to the Tolhuistuin this year with, among others, her new single “Banana”, in which she combines Afrobeats with a warm, grooving vibe and a flow steeped in Patois.
