Pianist and composer Amílcar Vasques-Dias takes you through his personal musical history, which stretches from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague to the Alentejo in southern Portugal. In a program full of memories, Portuguese poetry, and traditional music, the history of a country that liberated itself from a 48-year dictatorship in 1974 is heard. With soprano Cláudia Pereira Pinto, songs from the Alentejo and music by José Afonso, the musical symbol of the Portuguese Carnation Revolution, are performed. A personal concert about freedom, identity, and the power of music to connect worlds.
